As a student, there are numerous benefits to joining a trade union and unemployment insurance fund (A-kasse).

Although it’s not something we are happy about, for many it is necessary to have a student job alongside their education to make ends meet. While we at the Student Council are busy ensuring rights regarding education, it is equally important that someone is there to safeguard our rights in the labor market.

Therefore, we collaborate with a number of academic trade unions that can do just that. The role of trade unions is to help you in your job and ensure that your rights are protected, but they’re also active in offering many other services. For example, they provide numerous courses and offers that make the time as a student and job seeker a little easier.

In addition, they also offer great deals that help make everyday life a bit easier, such as affordable insurance and discounts or subsidies for textbooks.
