1. Modul - Get to know your University
At Roskilde University, our entire campus is located in one place. However, it is easy to get lost among the university's many buildings
In this lesson, we have therefore gathered all the places that we consider the most important on campus, so you know how to navigate around here!
This is a map of our campus. Here you can see where all the different buildings, parking lots, and important locations are situated. On How to RUC, you will find a video showing what the campus actually looks like. It goes through the key buildings so you can easily get an impression of the campus layout.
In this lesson, however, we will show which buildings and facilities we use the most as students. If you need extra help finding the building you need to be in, you can use “MazeMap.” There, you can search for the building and room you need, and it will guide you exactly where to go.
The highlighted areas on the map indicate construction zones. You cannot walk through these areas until the renovations are completed. If you need to enter a building located in this zone, you will need to walk around the construction site, as there will always be entrances still accessible.
The green marks all the paths you can walk along on campus. But if you’re unsure how to get somewhere, just remember to bring up “MazeMap.” MazeMap is available both as a website and as an app on your phone.
The squareroot and library
Here you can see RUC’s main entrance, ‘Kvadratroden,’ and the campus library. They are located right next to each other and are typically the first things you encounter on campus.
Besides borrowing books, there are many cozy spots in and around the library where you can sit, work, or hang out with friends.
The basement in the library also offers many seats with windows at eye level overlooking the lake outside.
There are also seating areas along the lake where you can sit and read.
There are plenty of seats indoors with a good view.
The Studenthouse
The Student House is the center for almost all the volunteer organizations at RUC. This is where many of the organizations have offices spread across the building's two floors. You are always welcome to stop by and say hello, which also applies to our own office! - You can read more about the volunteer organizations here at RUC in module 2 in the lesson “The volunteer environment at RUC”
The most popular organization at RUC is definitely RUCBar – a student-run bar operated entirely by volunteers. Here, you can grab a cup of coffee or a beer with your fellow students. They also host many events and parties, so be sure to stay updated on their social media!

Other cool places on campus
There are many cool spots tucked away in the corners of the various buildings at RUC – so it’s just a matter of finding them!
The FABLab in building 9 is also featured in How to RUC, but it’s a really cool place where you can do crafts or just hang out.
Here, most of the basement in building 21 is a cozy corner with both a pool table and table football.
Between the canteen and the 40 buildings, there are many outdoor seating areas in greenhouses, on benches, under canopies, and on various structures.
Yeeeah… this is a, uh, group room..? You often walk past it and, well, it looks interesting but… yeah, we've never actually used it ourselves.
Building 41’s rooftop terrace is a super cozy place to hang out. There are both seating areas with cushions, fire pits, and a pétanque court!
Most buildings also have cozy corners that you can make use of.
In buildings 45 and 46, there are similar cozy corners on every floor of the buildings.
The RUC campus is surrounded by nature, where you can especially find many areas to make use of.
Right next to the 40 buildings and the P3 parking lot, you will find a large open grassy area, which is also located right next to a forest!
Building 27 has beautiful open common areas that are often used for events.
If you follow the path around RUC, you will quickly find fields with cows, goats, sheep, and horses.
